What cookies are
Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work, to remember your preferences, and to understand how a site is used. We also use similar technologies, such as local storage, and we refer to all of these as “cookies” in this policy.
The short version
We use a small number of cookies. The ones that are strictly necessary to run the Service and keep it secure are always on. We only use analytics cookies if you agree, and they are off by default. We do not use advertising cookies.
Cookies we use
Strictly necessary
These are required for the Service to function and cannot be switched off. They include cookies that keep you signed in and secure your session, protect against fraud and abuse, remember your active workspace, and record your cookie preferences. Some of these are set as secure, server-only cookies.
Functional and preferences
These first-party cookies remember choices you make to improve your experience, such as your theme, sidebar state, and other interface preferences.
Analytics
With your consent, we use product analytics (PostHog) to understand how the Service is used so we can improve it. These cookies are off by default and are only set if you accept analytics in our cookie banner. You can withdraw consent at any time.
Error monitoring
We use error monitoring (Sentry) to detect and fix faults and keep the Service reliable and secure. This is treated as strictly necessary and is configured not to capture the content of your conversations or unnecessary personal data.
No advertising cookies
We do not use advertising cookies, and we do not allow third parties to track you across the web for advertising through Ask Tone.
Managing cookies
When you first visit Ask Tone, our cookie banner lets you accept or decline non-essential cookies. You can change your choice at any time through your cookie settings. You can also control cookies through your browser, including blocking or deleting them — but note that blocking strictly necessary cookies may stop parts of the Service from working.
Third-party cookies
Some cookies may be set by the third parties that help us run the Service. For example, when you make a payment, our payment processor (Stripe) may set cookies needed to process the transaction and prevent fraud. These are governed by the relevant provider’s own policies.
Changes
We may update this policy as our use of cookies changes. We will change the “last updated” date above when we do.
